The BeQuiet Straight Power 11 stands as a decided improvement over the Straight Power 10 range. The units are all 80 Plus Gold certified and range from 450 watts to 1000 watts. Today, we have the opportunity to check out the 850-watt model and see what this unit can do. As we previously mentioned, the 850-watt Straight Power 11 is an 80 Plus Gold rated unit which means that it can perform at up to 93% efficiency while under load. The lineup boasts the exclusive use of 100% 105C Japanese capacitors for improved stability, reliability, and a long operating life. This is a notable improvement over the Teapo capacitors we mentioned in the previous line-up.
Why fix something if it isn't broken? BeQuiet completely agrees and has chosen to stick with its impressive 135mm Silent Wings 3 fan. We considered the Silent Wings 3 as one of the main highlights of the Straight Power 10 lineup, which makes us equally excited to see it included in the new Straight Power 11. Much like the past units, the Straight Power 11 uses a funneled fan mount design to increase airflow to the components. Too much excitement and surprise, we are happy to report that the Straight Power 11 is fully modular! BeQuiet has cut the cord and the unit no longer has any dedicated cables. This was not a real issue on the past units since only the most basic and important cables were hardwired, but it increases the options for those that prefer to use their own custom cables. The chassis remains understated and simple, but the signature fan grill on the top of the unit lets you know that this isn't an ordinary power supply.
One of the most interesting changes exclusive to the new Straight Power 11 is the change to a completely wire free DC topology. This results in not only improved airflow, but less signal disturbance. This impressive innovation provides improved power delivery with the added bonus of better component longevity due to the increase in cooling ability.
