The Enermax Revolution SFX 650w is a fully modular SFX form factor unit. Both units in the Revolution SFX lineup are 80 Plus Gold certified which allows the unit to run at up to 92% efficiency while under load. Both units also feature 100% 105C Japanese electrolytic capacitors for improved stability and unit reliability. The units are both equipped with an 80mm fan for cooling.
The Revolution SFX series features a semi-fanless operation. The unit will run in a fanless mode until 30% load is reached. Continuing from 30% load and above, the fan will begin to scale as needed per the load of the unit. This helps to mitigate excessive fan noise and ensures that the unit only uses the fan as necessary.
I was unable to find the type of fan used in the included documentation. Further inspection of the unit revealed a ball bearing type fan. It's not my favorite, but on a fan this small it should provide great reliability.
The chassis is very sturdy for such a small unit. Every time I look at the unit, it makes me smile just because of how small it is. It's astounding what Enermax has brought to the table in such a small form factor. The connector ports are all well placed and should not lend themselves to misguided cabling opportunities. The unit appears to have adequate venting and I do not expect cooling to be an issue here.
It took quite a bit of reading and searching and more reading, but I was finally able to track down the warranty information on this little guy. The Revolution SFX 650w is supported by Enermax's 5-year warranty. This is fantastic for a smaller unit such as the Revolution SFX. Typically, these smaller units are subjected to higher temperatures which in certain circumstances can affect the longevity of hardware. No need to worry in this case, Enermax has you covered.
One important inclusion that we've seen overlooked in other competitor offerings is a conversion bracket. That's right, this thing is so small, you can't mount in the same place of an ATX chassis. The conversion bracket overcomes this technicality and allows the user to have the utmost flexibility when choosing a case. In our previous review with Corsairs SFX offering, they opted not to include the bracket. It's not the end of the world, Corsair still makes a bracket that is available for purchase, but that's just one more thing to buy, and Enermax has taken all of the logistics out of the equation by including the bracket. Thanks Enermax, that is how things should be.
