- Reviewed in Canada on July 19, 2017Capacity : 512 GBStyle: 3D MLCVerified PurchaseOne of the few remaining SATA MLC drives with proper TBW and that respectable 5 year warranty. These kinds of specs are getting RARE as manufacturers treat SATA storage as bottom-tier, moving efforts to nvme and shoving that disposable TLC crap with 2 year warranties down our throats. Also, its not a Samsung and doesn't use Samsung parts IIRC (a good thing - because we need competition). Chassis build quality is ok, but it is plastic and lightweight. The gold/yellow branding is meh, but differentiates itself nicely. You get a lot of stuff in the retail box.
The SU900 uses the latest 3D-MLC, of 2016/2017 design. It has all the bells and whistles (SLC and ddr3 cache, ECC, etc.) You can read about how robust the controller and NAND chips are on some of the review sites. The drive easily saturates the SATA III pipeline and probably wouldn't scale too well in RAID0 (not that raid is generally a thing anymore). I'm getting ADATA's quoted sequentials of 560 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write. It handles well on mixed I/O workloads and 4k, as well. Hasn't slowed down after several wipes and being 1/2 full. I bought the 512GB version because with MLC disappearing, this is a longer term investment for some STEAM games and CAD files.
This drive compliments my smaller but faster NVME drive (itself also MLC, because who would use up a precious nvme slot with one of those Slow/Black/TLC). While M.2 pcie/nvme is getting cheaper, the slots (and lanes) themselves are still at a premium (especially on mATX/ITX). So in a tiered storage scenario, this drive perfectly fills that gap between small blitzy NVME and large clunky HDD offloads.
So the SU900 checks all the boxes outside of the budget basement price/quality (where TLC might be more your thing). The standard price-point for this drive seems fair, given the lack of competition and an ongoing NAND shortage. Would like to see ADATA put these on sale or knock the price down a bit, given emerging NVME price/performance ratios. Otherwise, the drive makes complete sense.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 31, 2020Verified PurchaseI have had this 2TB SSD for a week now. I am not one to write a review immediately after I receive a product. With this SSD, I bought it for installing my games onto my MSI GP75 Leopard 10SFK-074CA Gaming Laptop. I have now used 929GB of the SSD after my games have installed along with their downloadable content. These consist of of my Steam Library as well as the Microsoft Store Games that are part of the Xbox Play Anywhere titles I have on my Xbox One X, so quite hefty installs.
I have had ZERO issues with the SSD. All games installed without trouble.
As you can see from the image, the speeds are what they are advertised at. Read is advertised as Up To 560MB/s and I am getting 559.31MB/s. Close enough for me and no complaints there. The Write speed is advertised Up To 520MB/s and I have been getting 514.61MB/s, again very nice.....these are advertised speeds "Up To"....so what I see is excellent speeds on this SSD. Now if the Read and Write speeds I got were quite lower as in under the 500, or even 480ish MB/s then I would be upset and returning the SSD.
The speed is excellent and I did all my installs of my games in one day, so that would put some stress on the SSD, and it performed admirably. No crashes, no slowdowns.
Don't think you'll magically get higher FPS when running your games off an SSD, all you'll notice is your games load faster. That is what I went into when getting an SSD for my game installs, just wanted faster loading.
Sure it cost twice as much as a 2TB spinning hard drive, but it sure is nice having a game load faster.....in some cases as much as 30 seconds.
All in all, I have no issues with this ADATA SSD. It carries a 3YR Warranty, and the speeds I get, I am not going to complain. Longevity will be seen, but I have had a ADATA 32GB USB Flash Drive I have been using for the last 7 years without issues either.

Images in this review - Reviewed in Canada on August 3, 2023Verified PurchaseApr 23 2022 i purchased the Adata 760 1Tb and on Aug 3 2023 it died. 16 months is all it lasted and its been connected to an Xbox series X the whole time. The games loaded onto it were there most the time, I wasn't deleting and downloading new games constantly. It wasn't even used daily mostly just a few hours on the weekend. The speeds were ok when it worked but it got really hot, I ran it out of an enclosure to ensure it got air so I'm not sure that it over heated but it was ceased to work and I really wish i had of spend a few more dollars to buy something better. my first Adata SSD and will be my last, my 4 year old Kinston 512 Gb SSD has had my operating system on it its whole life and works great still. Also my crucial 1Tb SSD has held my steam library for 3 years with no issues and it gets massive amounts of data downloaded and removed from it constantly. This time looking so save a buck come back to bite me. Do yourself a favor and buy something better quality because now I have to buy a new SSD making it cost 2x what I wanted to spend just to keep a couple extra games on my Xbox.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Choice To Upgrade From HDD!
Verified PurchaseI suffered from a slow PC for a long time (since I purchased it back in 2013), even when it was a brand new-light PC with no programs. I've experienced the true meaning of bottle neck, now it's like a Cheetah and before was a Turtle!
The reason why this review came late (Received on the 5th of June, 2019) is because I had to take my time to test it from any manufacturer/retailer/delivery faults or damages and mostly because before I bought it I couldn't find a good video reviewing it or many people talk about it, in fact I had to look in google recommendations for an SSD and unfortunately the SU900 wasn't listed there which is not fair. I had to look here in Amazon search for MLC SSD and it came up.
And i forgot to make a review because I've enjoyed the speed too much that made me forget to review it =).
As a first time user for an SSD, I can't compare the speed between it and other competitors but from pictures of benchmarking tools used on other SSDs or written information on websites. However, with the attached picture it's a solid proof that it is quite fast and almost the same speed as the most renowned brands.
Those numbers are not necessarily observable to the humans but to benchmarking tools statistics, the only thing observable is the speed. (Note: the test was taken with few apps already installed, now more apps with no decrease in speed whatsoever) and probably it could perform even better with the right usage.
The main use of the SU900 is for the OS + most-demanding apps and games (yeah GTA 5 loading no longer bugging me, playable in Ultra graphics) and the rest, rest in my old HDD.
NOTE to other customers/users to maximize it's life expectancy and speed, make sure to:
- Check if AHCI is enabled pre installing from the bios (if not, enable it) <<< for SATA users.
- Check if TRIM is enabled (if not, enable it).
- Try to relocate temporary files and downloads to a different storage drive (if you have one).
- Avoid unnecessary Reads and Writes.
- Disable unwanted programs on boot to make sure it boots fast-uninterrupted by them.
Pros:
- Perfect upgrade from HDD.
- Perfect for demanding games and apps.
- Long life expectancy (thanks to it's tech).
- Boot from power button to desktop in a matter of less than 8 seconds fully ready to use.
- Saves your wallet some extra $.
- Capacity 1TB makes it not only last longer, but fits all your stuff!
- ADATA website provides application support to check its health.
Cons:
- No complains at all
Conclusion:
I would definitely buy a second as a secondary drive and for my other PCs in the future.
Looking forward from ADATA future products.
For other users to compare:
- SSD: SU900 1TB (Main).
- HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500GB (Secondary).

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable, fast
Capacity : 120 GBStyle: 3DVerified PurchaseNever used ADATA products before so wasn't too confident. But imo it's a fantastic SSD for the price. Not a single problem yet and is fast. Huge upgrade from the old HDD (but that's to be expected). Haven't done read/write tests so can't speak comparisons. I don't really care as long as it works and gives me no issues, and it hasn't. Would recommend all day for an upgrade or new system.

Verified PurchaseI have this running windows 10 on a small Ryzen 7 Server. Great drive for the price. I peeled the ADATA sticker off mine gently so I could have a really clean look on my motherboard.
I love to write reviews and have paid full price for this item.
