I give 5 stars because it wasn't difficult to install, it does work better than the stock cooler, and it didn't cost much.
Speculating on why some have had problems using with an AM4 board. My board had 2 brackets screwed into a back plate for clipping on a cooler, which I removed since the stock cooler didn't come with clips. I mounted the stock cooler directly into the back plate. To get the Gammaxx 200T in I had to pull the MB out and put the mounting brackets back on, screwing them into the back plate as they were originally. Then it clipped onto the brackets with no problem at all.
Update : When idle my PC is 5C cooler with the Gammaxx 200T than with the stock cooler., 28C vs 33C. Average load runs in the high 30's to low 40's, was in high 40's to low 50's before. Stress test doesn't go above 65C, was reaching max with the stock cooler. This cooler works exceptionally well, and isn't so large as to cramp my Micro ATX case
cheap
works great on CPU's 65 watts or under (can take more with a fan upgrade)
better mounting set up then coolermaster with the 212 cooler
lights look nice and it glows well with the fan blades being white
stock fan is quite and seems well made
heat sink is well made and metal is not flimsy, cooper pad was milled well
CONs
stock fan runs at 1600RPM and will struggle in a case that does not have good inflow
included thermal paste works great but comes in a little packet like it was ketchup
uses thin metal bars to hold on fan that must be fitted in side tiny metal fines on the cooler to seat right and hold the fan on without rattle but when you get it in the right spot holds well
long story short i have built countless PC's over the last 15 years....have always loved things like the coolermaster 212 cooler as it was great value for money when you could buy them for around 20 dollars....now that CPU cooler is 35 and the fans are garbage....this is a great CPU cooler only let down by its fan spinning at 1600RPM....if this was a 2000RPM fan it would be the best thing you could buy for under 40 bucks making it a value leader BUT as it stands now in a stock set up its middle of the road....
conclusion....buy this IF you already have a 2000 RPM fan to put on it OR are using a CPU under 65 watts....what really sucks is i would love to find a 5 pack of these fans for the case but i will still put a higher RPM fan on this cooler....have tested this on a AMD 3400G, 3600, my personal 3700X and last a old 4690k overclocked to 4.2ghz....first 2 stock fan is fine....last 2 stock fan will leave you with high temps under full load....BUT changing the fan will fix it....its really a solid cooler only limited by its fan
One note, I didn't take a star off because it wasn't directly related to the cooler itself but rather the packing. I got the cooler and had intended to mount it without taking out the motherboard, but when I looked over the instructions I discovered that I was missing the pieces to do it that way. Since I didn't want to deal with the horrible temps for even a few more days I decided to not return it and just take apart my PC to attach it with the backplate. It's probay more star this way, the cooler is a little heavy so not mad that I did it the way I did, though disappointed the other pieces were not included in the box. My box was also beaten pretty badly but the product itself seems and runs undamaged. Just thought that might be useful. Always take pictures of any damage you see, especially water damage before opening or doing anything further with your items. Mine runs perfect so I am very happy. Note, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between this V2 and the V1. Mainly this one (V2) seems to have bothohnting methods for Intel while the V1 only have the backplate method for both Intel and AMD. If you can find the V1 for cheaper do it, you'll see the same performance. I bought this one without any deal or sale so I spent a bit more but since it was urgent it was worth it for me. If you can wait and can't find the V1 for cheaper this V2 supposedly does go on sale a bit, usually $5-$10 so that would definitely be a deal worth jumping on.
