The Enermax Platimax D.F. 1200w is an incredible power supply. The feature list almost seemed never-ending. The component list exudes quality and performance. This is one of the highest watt power supplies we've ever had the opportunity to review and what an impressive journey it has been.
The Enermax Platimax has been a blast to put through its paces for performance. Efficiency has been superb and meets the standards set forth to be considered a Platinum rated unit. While it's difficult for us to take a 1200w to the extreme, we were unable to trip up the Platimax. The FMQ Transformer design provides the utmost efficiency and stability while the copper-bridge array helps reduce voltage drop and energy loss. Regardless of the tasks we threw at the Platimax from gaming to streaming, from overclocking, even to burn in tests, the Platimax smiled and asked for more. Enermax has always been known for their quality builds and the Platimax has delivered in every aspect.
There is one thing we would like to set straight in regard to the ultra-quiet Twister-Bearing fan. While it is a quiet fan, it's definitely not whisper quiet. This is absolutely fine, but for anyone looking at a 1200w unit, the fans are not going to truly be whisper quiet and keep up. This fan is definitely quieter than your typical 140mm, and to get this much performance in cooling for a much smaller chassis, it's a great inclusion for this unit.
While we do not know the long-term advantages of the Platimax, we'd be willing to wager that based on the component list you should have no issues with the Platimax to need to use its warranty. While Enermax provides a generous 5-year warranty, we would have liked to see a bit more. The Japanese capacitors and high-quality components make us feel confident about this build and we wouldn't worry too much about its long term stability.
The Enermax Platimax has been nothing short of reliable and a powerhouse during testing. It easily stands alongside the frontrunners of this power supply segment and cements itself as a true contender. Its feature set helps it to stand out among the pack though and could really provide the extra push to see Enermax take the lead and the one and only frontrunner.
