We can't say this enough to manufacturers, but thank you Enermax for the fully modular power supply. We absolutely love these modular designs and Enermax has went the full distance on this one. The unit has 11 modular ports on the back and everything remains clearly labeled. It would be difficult for a consumer to plug in cables incorrectly, slam dunk on this one Enermax, this is shaping up to be a great unit.
The unit looks great, Enermax did a fantastic job by not overstating this unit, but still adding appeal to its performance oriented design. The text on the side of the chassis is very sharp and it was a great idea to choose white to contrast with the dark black body of the chassis. The chassis material is a nicely textured metal that is very sturdy. We were unable to find any amount of flex with the side walls of the unit. All buttons and connectors feel secure and high quality.
The power switch side of the unit features a standard power switch along with a push button for the D.F. switching. The unit has plenty of breathing room thanks to its properly ventilated chassis wall and the enormous fan on top of the unit. The unit utilizes a standard metal fan grill. While this isn't really an issue, it would have been nice to have seen the inclusion of something more substantial to help cut down on the vibration and noise generated by the fan and system itself.
Cable types included are 1x 20+4-Pin ATX cable (600mm), 2x EPS/ATX12V cable (700mm), 6x 6+2-Pin PCI-E Connector (600mm), 4x Molex (500/650/800/950mm), 12x SATA connectors (500/650/800/950mm), 1x Floppy Adapter (100mm), and 1x AC power. Enermax really stepped up their game here and included individually sleeved cables which use a high-quality fabric to provide and smooth and soft texture. In certain circumstances, individually sleeved cables can take up too much space. However, for a 1200w power supply these are the perfect choice and inclusion with this unit. These are our favorite type of cable. They look great, they feel great, and they add extra aesthetic appeal to any system.
The amount of cables included with the Platimax is no joke, there are tons of cables and its baffling how they even fit them all in the tiny box. Without a doubt, this unit is ready to power any type of system and you should have no worries attempting to hook up any of your peripherals such as extra drives or graphics cards.
