Enermax Digifanless 550W Power Supply Review

Without a doubt, the Enermax Digifanless has delivered solid performance and an impressive feature set. Unfortunately, the price leaves quite a bit to be desired. Coming in at roughly $210 at the time of writing, the Enermax Digifanless looks to be a tough sell. There are numerous different options at this price point. Any buyer is going to have a hard time making a decision in this category. However, none of the competing options incorporate all the features of the Digifanless.

Enermax Digifanless

If the Digifanless were slated at a higher wattage or perhaps an even better efficiency rating, it would make the cost easier to cope with. However, it's 2016 and there is no shortage of great units available at very competitive price points. If Enermax drops the price of this unit, I could see it being an absolutely dominant unit in today's fierce market.

Performance: 10/10 (40% of the final score)
What a great performer, high efficiency and the ability to operate without a fan. My only concern throughout testing was the reliability of the unit due to heat. In the end, my concerns were silenced and the Digifanless proved to be an exceptional unit.

Features: 10/10 (20% of the final score)
The Digifanless contained by far the best feature set I have reviewed this year. What more can you ask for? You get an all-digital unit, completely quiet operation due to the lack of a fan, and individually sleeved cables to make your rig look great. It has great aesthetic appeal, boasts a platinum efficiency rating and also provides an impressive software-monitoring package to track output power, efficiency, and temperature all from your desktop.

Components/Build Quality: 10/10 (20% of the final score)
Like the Revolution Xt II we previously reviewed, the Digifanless is also a CWT produced unit. The build quality was exceptional on our unit, and I was unable to find any faults. It's a great looking PSU, and the sleeved cables provide an extra touch of excellence and quality to this unit.

Value: 7/10 (20% of the final score)
This has truly been the toughest part to swallow. Value was the only area I felt the Enermax Digifanless fell short. The reality of the situation is that it's 2016 and the market is incredibly competitive in the 550w range. However, this is the ONLY PSU that provides this kind of feature set. In the end, the value really comes down to the end user and if they feel the additional features really justify the price difference.

Summary

The Enermax Digifanless is an impressive unit, with near perfect execution. It's a great option for any buyer that is looking for an extremely quiet rig. The Digifanless imbues excellence in every category except for value. At 550w, there are just too many other great options at a lower price point. It is a fantastic PSU and if you are looking for the quietest platinum unit with a software component, then perhaps this unit is for you. At the end of the day, I would love to see this unit drop in price. If it was a higher wattage unit, then I could more easily cope with the price point.
